Making a matrimonial match is a tedious and time taking job in India.
The boy wants a bride.
The girl wants a groom.
The parents search frantically.
They talk about their child to the other party in detail.
Then come the questions on date of birth, time of birth, place of birth and name.
This data would be taken to a pandit or a computer generating horoscopes.
If the pandit or the computer indicates that the prospective candidate under consideration is manglik the matter is dropped instantly like a hot coal.
Most people do not go to the extent of matching the biodata of both the boy and the girl.
If they do this then they can know where the effect of mangal is.
Whether it is in the touch area or in the beginning or middle or at the end.
They could also know how many gunas out of 36 are matching and whether the match is good ("uttam") or very good("ati uttam") and whether the effect of mangal is neutralised by the match or not.
The other things which come in the way are the age, date of birth, height, colour of the skin, beautiful or not, handsome or not, state, language, community, religion, sect of the religion, gotra, business or service, low income group, lower middle class, middle class, upper middle class, high status and class,budget-nil, low, medium, decent or high, where staying, etc etc.
The search goes on and many brokers in the form of matrimonial sites come in luring one for free registration and then making one pay to get the contact details or photos of other members.
Time, effort and money is wasted and few matches are made.
