I do not remember where we had food in my first visit to Pune.

I was a part of a botanical excursion and had been to the Pune University to meet Prof Mahabale.

Later when we visited Pune the first place where we had food was a vegetarian restaurant cum hotel by the name Sagar, below Hotel Dreamland.

It was located in front of the main Pune Central railway station on the other side of the road towards the left.

The tandoori rotis were crisp and the food was very palatable.

Another good veg place has  developed on the corner of the road   going towards the Residency Club from the railway station.

We also had food at a small restaurant near Nal stop opposite a garden. It had more of a maharashtrian touch.

There was a small restaurant on the corner of the junction of two roads, one of which was Tilak road and the other went in the direction of the ground near Saras baug.

There were a number of good veg places on Jangli Maharaj road like Kamat,Shivam,Subhadra,Panchaali, and two three others.

Of course for  those who do not mind both veg and non veg at one place, Jangli Maharaj road has the McDonald's and the Pizza Hut.

Karve Road too has a number of good veg places like Prithvi, Kamat,Sheetal and Sumitra.

Ferguson college road has Vaishali and one just opposite Ferguson college.

On the same road is a parantha wala chaat shop.

We enjoyed the paranthas and chaat many a time.

Of course we did not miss out on the "bakharwadis" and the wada- pav of Joshi Wadawale.

A good place was Ambrosia(both veg and nonveg)  near Chandni Chowk on outskirts of the city.

Many eating places have come up in Pune since 2002 and it would need other visits and longer stays to do justice to the topic of vegetarian and other famous eating spots of Pune.
